The Buddha experience : Sanchi Buddhist monastery site

Leaves

Here, the man went inward and wise,
Reluctant teacher, about to enter light
The leaves about him had a faint aura
Not a pall of dust but of wisdom’s light,
The why of all including our nothing-
We who had liquid origins and trauma.
He had an answer to all our questions
But no questions to our lucent answers
His ears were long and unhearing
As were his eyes small and crinkly.
It was not he who patted his tummy
And laughed to the vulgar crowds loud
Just a yellow figurine on dusty shelves.
Did you say he had frozen in bronze
With an enormous stomach side-splitting?
Actually our fears froze behind his ears
I can hear their crunch in these leaves.

The ruins of the Buddha temple here have always fascinated me and I have clicked this many times each time trying to add some more tranquil atmosphere to the pictures.I have given a slightly reddish tinge to the pictures in order to accentuate the wonderfully peaceful atmosphere that prevails in these ruins. The tree here is magical adding to the beauty of the place.

The Ujjain river-front

The photograph of the kids playing in the temple came my way quite fortuitously at the ThriGanesh temple in Ujjain. The ambient light was quite beneficial in lighting up the cute faces of the kids and the general joy of living naturally experienced by the kids in their play.

In the middle of nowhere this old woman is seen squatting on the cobbled floor of the riverfront .I wanted to capture her picture from a close quarter but chose not do so preferring to put her picture in the perspective of the riverfront scene. But the poignancy of her outlined figure cannot be missed against the life-goes-on scene all around her.

A sadhu (holy man) is sitting in the shadow of a temple on the riverfront in Ujjain.Edit

The woman is here calling out to her companion from the arched entrance to the temple. She appears to be reaching out to ring the bell but is actually calling out to her companion to tell him she is there. An off-guard moment captured.
